IWC Gala – Filmmaker Award at the Zurich Film Festival

The Gala
Having dinner next to actress Uma Thurman and Olympic gold medalist Fabian Cancellara is not something that happens every day – imagine our joy when we received the invitation from IWC Schaffausen to the Filmmaker Award Gala evening, held in Zurich during the Zurich Film Festival, and we were told they would attend too.

The Prize
IWC has a long-term connection to cinema and sponsors numerous top events. To help the development of Swiss films and new artists, the Filmmaker Award , this year in its second edition and set up by the Association for the Promotion of Film in Switzerland (Verein zur Filmfoerderung in der Schweiz), a prize of CHF 100.000 is given to the 2 best movies presented during the ZFF. Fortuna, by Germinal Roaux, and Das Blue Note Projekt were given the prize by Uma Thurman and Georges Kern last night in Zurich.
The Evening
I love glamour, and every IWC event is a combination of quality, glamour, but also entertainment and fun.
Before dinner we went to a 3D shooting, where the crew asked us to hold cinema props and threw popcorn at us. There I heard someone talking in Italian and thought: hmmm, I know this good looking guy! It was Fabian Cancellara, a man I really admire for his achievements in sports and his friendly manners…what can I say? A bit of Italian blood always helps!
After the shooting we went for dinner. Of course we had to walk the red carpet and pose in front of the wall – we all felt like superstars. Finally Uma Thurman arrived. As all great people, she was friendly and open. She gave time to anybody who wanted to talk to her for a moment and, during the dinner breaks between one course the the other, she went on stage to answer questions and finally give the prize. The two winners were very happy and flattered, and one could feel the positive vibes in the whole room.
Dessert was downstairs, where more drinks were served and a DJ started the party. More people joined and I thought, once again, that I really love the city of Zurich. Culture, fun, art, good food, lovely gowns and outfits are always there to be enjoyed and admired. Thank you IWC for the beautiful evening!
