Have fun staking up bracelets
Stacking bracelets is fun. It can transform a look and give freshness to the outfit, but beware: not everybody succeeds. Common mistakes are stacking too much (bracelets and necklaces and rings all together, for example – a risky look that works only in rare cases); mixing styles which don’t go well together (a tribal bracelet near an edgy spike bracelet, for example, only creates confusion); mixing sizes that are too different; using fading jewelry which is clearly losing its coat (I see that regularly, believe it or not).
Yes, there are some rules even in creativity. Look at some stylish examples and make your own:
1. The Pandora Way
2. When in doubt, stick to the same metal.
Silver with silver, gold with gold and bronze with bronze are a good starting point to put together a well suited mix of bracelets. You can add different materials like wood, fabric or stone for variety.
3. Yes, you can mix metals.
Don’t be too scared; it’s jewelry after all. If you feel the overall look works, go for it. We are talking about things that “go well” together and maybe recall or complement each other.
4. Decide a style and stick to it.
Examples: Hermes bracelets and leather bands; gold and diamonds repeating allover; bohemian style with bohemian bracelets (colours, stones, etc); rock outfits with edgy bracelets, silver and leather; Tiffany bracelets with charms, etc.
5. The more, the merrier
Mix materials, textures and hues. When confident about it…add again! If you go for this look, do it big. It makes the look much more impactful.
6. Keep in mind the fit of your bracelets
Choose items that have more or less the same inner circumference. With different sizes, bigger bracelets will fall over smaller ones and make the result messy and confused.
7. Keep things in the same colour scheme/same families of colour
Crystals are neutral. Look for harmony when choosing different colours.
8. Start with a statement piece.
Your watch? A piece you love? Your biggest piece? Start with that, and add what goes well with it.
9. Proportions
If you have short forearms don’t wear too many chunky bracelets. Watch the final result in the mirror and make sure proportions make sense.
10. Perfect nails
You are drawing attention to your wrist; make sure your nails are polished and your skin well hydrated.
