Swiss Jam, In A Swiss Gem

Germina Preses

We all know that, besides being a paradise on earth for the landscapes, quality of life and wealth, Switzerland is home to incredible names, hosting every year international and worldwide known events.

This year, for the first time, I had the chance – the honour – to attend the Montreux Jazz Festival.

It was such a privilege to be able to try one of the many packages that Manor, as a main sponsor, offers to all Manor Card holders

My Montreux break (and concert with the three artists) were worth CHF 1’260, but the Manor package offered it for  CHF 750 only. It included:

  • Two VIP tickets, seated places
  • One night in a double superior room, with breakfast included and SPA entrance at the majestic Hotel Royal Plaza Montreal & SPA
  • Welcome drinks at the hotel (with delicious canapés)
  • Last but not least, the indispensable Wifi

The hotel is located few steps from the lake, and only a couple of meters from where the magic happens. The walking distance, and the full organisation, make this incredible experience accessible and comfortable. Manor thought about everything!

Last night, Sampha opened the concert. After him,  I could see one of my favorite artists performing live: Solange Knowles.

This lady is a creative, talented and unique artist. She’s the writer of all her songs; the words she uses are very simple, strong and meaningful. She presented her third album: A Seat at The Table. The album’s themes include rage, despair and empowerment. It comprises funk, neo soul, psychedelic soul and contemporary R&B.

What really left me speechless was the choreography, I dare to say that it quite reflected her personality. Simple red outfits, few coordinated dancing moves and A LOT OF ENERGY.

Solange does know how to entertain an audience!

And, did I mention that she’s the sister of Beyoncé? Let’s say that something in those genes drive people crazy!

A great ending of this wonderful day was to see performing a legend: Erykah Badu.

Between every concert, we went to the Manor Lounge Stravinski, that offers delicious meal.

Pasta with truffle and eggs, as a daily special: worth trying. Bruschette, panini, sweets, smoothies, coconuts, there is basically everything you want.

The vibe is positive, international; thousands of people sharing one big passion – music.

To summarise: sun, music, lake, food all in a little city in Switzerland. An unforgettable experience that I can’t wait to repeat – to create new, amazing memories.
