Kulm St.Moritz – 160 years of innovation

When I read the Kulm Hotel was the first five stars hotel in St. Moritz and the one that initiated the world famous luxury hospitality in the mountain resort, I somehow imagined a stuffy and formal place. I hadn’t seen the spa, the rooms or met the (almost fully Italian) staff, so I was very mistaken.
Staying at the Kulm is fun! If you want privacy, you’ll get privacy. But if you are like me and need attention, the Italians will know how to spoil you and give you a smile. Returning from the spa on a Sunday morning, I bumped into the hotel staff morning meeting. Twenty people in their uniforms stood on the walls like two wings, and I had to walk in the middle of them. I said:
wow, I get a catwalk!
…and everybody started to cheer and root for me! And of course at the end we had a big laugh.
A short description of the spa: there are one room after the other for you to discover while walking there randomly sipping your mountain tea. I tried the infrared sauna (that I had never heard about) for my tired muscles, then the relaxation room with the modern fireplace basically in the middle of the water, the salt inhalation grotto and the steam bath, which smelled heavenly. Don’t miss the outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking lake St.Moritz, so photogenic that you won’t resist without taking a picture.
