High on the Rock in Zermatt
Feel Like James Bond
Every newcomer at the OMNIA experiences a grand entrance.
When you arrive in Zermatt (by train or by car), you’ll have to use electric transport – the city is car-free. If you are staying at the OMNIA, they will send you their shuttle to pick you up. The combination of its silent engine, its speed, and the entry into a stylish stone tunnel decorated with lit candles and glass, makes you feel like you are a spy on a mission impossible. Ooooooh! every tourist says. If this is the start, what comes next?
Spaceship on the Rock
What comes next doesn’t disappoint. High on the rock and with stunning views over the village and iconic Matterhorn, the hotel eye-catching architecture reminds you of a spaceshift. The structure is traditional, but the massive use of glass and sleek decor makes the building outstanding.
Cute Staff
One shouldn’t look at the prettiness of staff, when reviewing a hotel. But hey, I couldn’t help noticing how young, good looking and dynamic the staff at OMNIA is. It’s not unusual to catch The Managing Director, Christian Eckert, putting food on the table at breakfast or helping with any chore. Last but not least, the staff designer outfits change daily.
Informal Elegance
I’m not sure everybody appreciates informality, but while having breakfast at the OMNIA I noticed that many people were wearing their slippers or the hotels slippers. I haven’t see that often in a five stars hotel and found it very refreshing. There is nothing stiff in this hotel, and the atmosphere is very cozy.
The Suite
If you want to impress your guest or partner, get the OMNIA III suite for a wow effect. Its round shaped living room, all in glass and complete with Swarovsky telescope, enjoys tons of natural light even when the weather is bad (I tried it). A terrace, walk-in wardrobe and clever bathroom with endless space for small objects (perfect for girls!) complete the room.
Michelin starred
Executive chef Hauke Pohl creates culinary art in the OMNIA Michelin-starred restaurant. Its unpretentious, yet incredibly thought of style is a treat for every gourmet. Here’s my review.
Feel Well
I am not big at Spa holidays – I get easily bored and prefer action. But the relaxation area in OMNIA looks so good and is so friendly, that one really feels nobody is watching or bothering, while having a swim or enjoying the outdoor whirlpool. Needless to say, this is the most Instagrammable place in the hotel. The Spa includes indoor and outdoor pool, Finnish Sauna, outdoor whirlpool, flower steam room, Turkish bath caldarium, fitness room, relaxing room.
